Key responsibilities will include:

1. Financial Accounting and Reconciliations

  • Processing bank transactions and journals in Xero with high first-pass accuracy.

2. Billing and Debtors Management

  • Preparing invoicing and supporting reconciliations for the group within agreed deadlines.
  • Supplier payment preparation.
  • Updating AP/AR ageing reports and managing non-client-facing escalations.

3. Finance Operations (FinOps)

  • Executing various reconciliations and providing exception lists to Ops/CX where client communication is required.
  • Processing refunds and settlements according to strict SLAs.

4. VAT and Payroll Support

  • Preparing VAT/turnover reconciliations and VAT201 working papers for review.
  • Supporting payroll administration, leave tracking, and preparing statutory submission packs (EMP/UIF/COIDA).

  • Assisting the finance team with the preparation of financial statements
  • Maintaining audit-ready documentation to support external audit processes.

This job might be for you if:

  • You Thrive on Deadlines: You are energised by a fast-paced environment and can prioritise effectively during busy month-end periods.
  • You are a Problem-Solver: You have a "reconciliation mindset" and aren't afraid to dig into messy datasets to find a solution.
  • You are a Self-Starter: You follow checklists diligently and can work independently while knowing when to escalate issues early.
  • You are a Clear Communicator: You relate well to internal stakeholders and can explain financial queries simply and effectively.

You should be great at:

  • Excel: Data cleanup, lookups, and pivot tables are second nature to you.
  • Time Management: Managing multiple daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Analytical Thinking: Identifying patterns and resolving discrepancies in high-volume data.

You are our ideal candidate if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in accounting or audit (e.g., as an audit clerk or junior accountant).
  • Proven experience in processing transactions and preparing complex reconciliations.
  • A strong understanding of IFRS for SME’s, Value Added Tax, Employee Tax and Income Tax legislation.

Bonus points for:

  • Professional certification with SAIPA or SAICA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Xero, SimplePay, or Draftworx.
